As a homeowner myself, I know what a big decision it is to finally go out and buy your own home rather than renting. My best friend just recently took the plunge and found just the house she has always been looking for. She was so excited when she called me that I knew this was a special event for her.
Getting the invitation in the mail for her housewarming party got me thinking about what I could get her that was original and different. As I was walking to work one day I went by a jewelry store and saw my answer. A collection of charms on a beautiful bracelet, all themed around being a homeowner was the perfect gift idea.
Everyone else was getting her specific items for the home, which I know she needs and will love. I decided to get something just for her, a collection of charms that she could wear to remind her of just how special this event really is.
Since the theme was homeownership, I immediately started looking at both gold charms and silver charms that depicted all different kinds of homes. I found silver charms of castles and charms of fairytale houses and country estates. All these were perfect for the collection.
Keys are often a symbol of moving and ownership, so a collection of beautifully designed silver charms of keys on a single ring was a great addition. These keys all had heart shaped tops and tiny diamond chips in the designs, perfect to show her how much I cared.
Charms of a champagne bottle and glasses were very festive, so I added them to the bracelet. This would help her to remember her housewarming party, but also all the other celebrations she will have in the home over the years.
Little miniature hammers, saws and even wrenches were cute additions to the collection of charms, plus they also highlighted some of the tools she will need in the future. As a very environmentally conscious person, I couldn't pass up a push lawn mover charm, complete with wheels that really turn!
For luck I added a wishing well charm and a four leaf clover, since I am a bit superstitious about these things. I know that my friend is going to love the charms and the bracelet and will know why I picked each one. In addition I can continue to add charms to the bracelet as the years go on, making this a really great gift.
